How did you become the Savvy Sister that you are today?
Born and raised in Kansas with a passion for capturing memories. My full time job is working at a wedding and event venue called The Brownstone in Topeka, KS.
I fell in love with photographing families, couples and weddings. I live for the moments in life and think moments and milestones are to be photographed.
I am married to my best friend and am a dog mom to a great dane, mastiff and chocolate lab. Dog lover and coffee snob.
What keeps you going when things get tough?
I am a very passionate person with a competitive edge to continue to invest in myself, educate myself and grow my business! When I am stuck in a hard place I have some "me time" and plan a creative shoot to help light my fire again!
What's one of the biggest lessons you've learned since starting your own business?
One lesson I have learned is too not compare yourself to others, it gets very hard in the photography industry but everyone is at different stages of their career and photography is art. Everyone's artistic abilities are different as they should be so focus on yourself and set goals and get after them!
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give younger you?
If I could go back in time I would tell my younger self to slow down and enjoy the simple moments in life because life goes way to fast. It is one reason that fueled my passion for photography, I believe in capturing ones moments and milestones in life because life is not to be taken for granted.
What are three of your greatest strengths?
1. My leadership skills, I love heading up new projects and working with other creative souls.
2. I am a great listener - I love to hear about peoples passions in life, what motivates them and see if I can help in anyway to help make their goals a reality.
3. Sounds silly, but I truly enjoy my sarcasm and my willingness to laugh at the moments that are out of our control and enjoy people and what they bring to the table.
What's your go to stress reliever?
Go to stress relief is coffee and dog walks. I have three giant doggies and they make me sooo happy! Coffee and walks around the lake is just what I need to hit the reset button in life!
What's something you're currently celebrating?
I am celebrating growing my photography brand and investing in myself with styled shoots and so far I have booked 6 weddings this year and I haven't even hit 1 year of being in business!
I'm grateful for the relationships that I have created and the awesome people who have been brought into my life through photography!
