SAVVY Sister Spotlight: Namie - Tranquil Lotus Yoga

How did you become the Savvy Sister that you are today?

Have you ever felt like you had no purpose in life? That’s how I felt before I got into yoga.

I was reactive to everything that bothered me, not happy with myself and was destructive in my relationships.

Before I got my teacher certification, I was practicing yoga purely for the physical aspect. I found a yoga studio and feel in love with the practice. Once I took my teacher training, I realized yoga is more than just a physical practice. It’s a union of the body, mind and soul. I started to gain confidence in myself and my relationships grew stronger.

These past few years, yoga has helped me in every season of my life. Whether it was mourning a loved one or my journey of starting a family. And most recently when I lost my baby while pregnant. I’ve learned to be present and breath in uncomfortable moments.

What keeps you going when things get tough?

Last year taught me to be resilient.

Events don’t always go the way we plan and we sometimes don’t have control of it. Learning how to adapt in situations like this through yoga, meditation, journaling and breathing exercises has helped me.

I want to teach other the people the tools they can use in times when things don’t go as planned.
